Oakley seemed lost when noticed in rural Oklahoma. He may have hoped that someone would drive by and notice him. The pup had been left with two other dogs. For over a week the lost pets wandered the countryside. Without a shelter, the dogs slept in a tin tube under the road.
Fortunately, a Good Samaritan spotted them and alerted the animal rescuer Alysse Matlock. She headed there as far as she could. Matlock was sad when she saw them. “He was in pretty rough shape, which broke my heart,” she said.
Oakley was the first of the three to be rescued. The other two were caught later and brought to foster homes where they could recover.
Matlock took Oakley back to her home, where he could immediately relax. Soon his warm personality came out. Seeing his speedy affection Matlock was furious that someone left him alone.
She gave him a good bath and arranged his Medical care. She got in touch with Safe Haven Animal Rescue which offered her to cover Oakley’s medical expenses while Matlock fostered him.
Within a few periods, Oakley’s skin and eye condition were greatly improved. He especially enjoyed lunch and dinner. Then, it was time for him to find a permanent home.
After seeing Matlock’s Instagram pictures and videos about Oakley, one family decided to meet him. They contacted Matlock and arranged a meeting. They immediately fell in love with him, and they decided that he is the one they had been searching for.
Matlock was happy that she could give him a new life. Hopefully, he will chill in his happy family forever!
