Prince William taken aback by veteran’s query about Kate Middleton’s well-being, asking if she “is improving”

Prince William had to address a personal question about Kate Middleton during a recent encounter with a veteran, providing a rare update on her health. The Prince of Wales was attending a commemorative event in Portsmouth, England, alongside his father, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla, marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Kate Middleton, who has been notably absent from public engagements since late December, was not present at the event. It was later disclosed that she has been undergoing cancer treatment, which has kept her from fulfilling her official duties.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), a veteran in a wheelchair asked Prince William if his wife “is getting any better.” William, 41, responded with reassurance, saying, “Yes, she’d love to be here today.”

He went on to share a personal anecdote, mentioning that Kate’s grandmother had also served in the military, specifically at Bletchley Park. “I was reminding everyone that her grandmother served at Bletchley Park,” he said. “So she had quite a bit in common with some of the ladies here who were at Bletchley.”

In March, after several months of absence from public life, Kate Middleton disclosed her cancer diagnosis in a social media video. This revelation came as a surprise to many, given her active role in the royal family.

Prince William’s participation in the 80th anniversary of D-Day was part of a series of engagements leading up to the annual Trooping the Colour military event in June. Although Kate was appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022, it has been confirmed that she will not be participating in the Colonel’s Review this year.

A source close to the royal family has indicated that Kate Middleton will remain out of the public eye and away from her official duties until her doctors deem her fit to return. There is currently no timeline for when this might be.

“Princess Kate is focusing on her recovery but has been seen running errands with her family,” the source said. “Her priority remains on her young children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. She is receiving full support from Prince William, who has been committed to her recuperation, as well as from her mother, siblings, and other family members who have stepped in to support her children.”

Although Kate has been kept informed about her patronages, she is not yet ready to resume her royal responsibilities. It’s reassuring to hear directly from Prince William that she is making progress.

The source also mentioned that while Kate was “kept up to date” on the release of the Royal Foundation Business Task Force for Early Childhood report last week, there is no indication that she will return to work in the near future. “She will only resume her duties when her medical team gives the go-ahead,” the source added.

For those who are eager to hear updates on Kate Middleton’s health, Prince William’s comments provide a hopeful outlook. Share this update with others who may be concerned about how she is doing.
