The internet, with its limitless wealth of information, is an immeasurably useful tool for countless reasons.
While the advantages it brings to our daily lives seem endless, its role as a vast well of shared knowledge arguably makes it one of the greatest inventions of recent centuries.
No topic is off-limits, and no answer is beyond reach if you know where to look. Mysteries that once would have remained unsolved can now be unraveled with just a few clicks of a mouse or taps on a keyboard.
Over the years, we’ve seen many old myths debunked online and life hacks and helpful hints become common knowledge. These pieces of wisdom, once held by only a few, are now widely accessible.
For instance, have you ever wondered why your underwear sometimes looks like it has bleach spots? If so, you’re not alone. Many women have posed this question online, seeking answers.
And answers they found. It turns out these patches of discoloration have nothing to do with your washing machine, as some have speculated.
Dr. Vanessa MacKay from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists explains: “The vagina has a self-cleaning mechanism through natural secretions. It contains beneficial bacteria that serve to protect it.”
According to the National Institutes of Health, the usual vaginal pH ranges between 3.8 and 5.0, making it moderately acidic compared to the naturally neutral pH level of 7.
Dr. MacKay adds that it’s perfectly normal and healthy for women to have clear or white discharge from their vagina, and disturbing the natural balance can lead to infections.
