After several challenging weeks shouldering much of the royal responsibilities, Queen Camilla is reportedly taking a brief break from her duties.
According to Hello!, Camilla will take a one-week hiatus from her royal engagements, with her schedule cleared of all responsibilities. She is expected to return to her official duties on March 11, when she will lead the Royal Family at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. In her absence, other senior royals are set to step in.
King Charles has been noticeably absent from many royal duties following his recent health challenges. Last month, the King was diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate and is currently receiving ongoing care.
Compounding the situation, Kate Middleton’s recent hospitalization and recovery period have limited Prince William’s ability to assist with royal duties. As a result, Queen Camilla has taken on more responsibilities, including representing the Royal Family at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece.
This short break from royal engagements is likely a much-needed respite for Camilla, who is reportedly spending her time off with King Charles and other family members.
As for the King, he has been splitting his time between London and the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, while continuing his treatment. The Royal Family has not disclosed the specific type or stage of cancer Charles is battling. However, during a meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the King expressed gratitude for the public’s outpouring of support, admitting that some of the messages had moved him to tears. The general sentiment from the royals is that the King remains in good spirits and is recovering well.
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has also been on the road to recovery following her hospitalization in late January for a planned abdominal procedure. She has been resting at home since her 13-day stay at the London Clinic and is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter. The lack of updates from the Palace has led to concern among royal fans, but officials have reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm.
“We were clear from the start that the Princess of Wales would be out until after Easter, and Kensington Palace will only provide updates if there is something significant,” a Palace spokesperson said.
We wish King Charles and Queen Camilla a peaceful and well-deserved break together.
