Like many parents, Joy Mills loves taking photos of her kids and sharing them on social media—especially for special occasions like the first day of school.
When her daughter, Brooke, was about to start seventh grade, Joy decided to commemorate it with a little photoshoot. She asked Brooke to pose next to a tree in their yard, unaware of the surprise lurking nearby.
As she reviewed the photos, Joy’s heart skipped a beat. A large snake was camouflaged along the trunk, just inches from Brooke, blending perfectly with the tree’s bark.
Keeping her cool, Joy didn’t mention the snake but calmly asked Brooke to step away. Once Brooke realized what had been so close, she was stunned.
“When she saw it in the pictures, she was speechless,” Joy said. “We couldn’t believe how close it was—right there, and we had no idea.”
Fortunately, the snake didn’t pose any danger, and Brooke ended up with an unforgettable story to share with her classmates.
