An Adult Elephant Captured Climbing A 5ft Wall To Steal Mangoes During the Off-Season

Elephants are known to be intelligent creatures. Yet, like us, sometimes they can be dumb too. Though they are massive, it seems like these innocent animals forget how big they are. You want to know why? Well, here is what happened.

It was the tourists in Mfuwe Lodge in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia who witnessed this hilarious scenario. Recently an innocent elephant has climbed a 5ft wall to steal some mangoes from the safari lodge which was quite adorable and funny at the same time.

“He just chose the most direct route and made himself right at home. The guests were very amused at the idea of a climbing elephant. They were in amazement that it would bother to climb over such a high wall. He was a stranger to us. He wanted to investigate. He wanted to get into the central area where this big mango tree grows.” ,” Ian Salisbury, the general manager at Mfuwe Lodge has commented.

During the mango season which is between October and December, it is common to see the elephants visit the safari lodge trees in search of mangoes. But they use a way around which makes this elephant’s untimely visit more hilarious.

“He came and stretched over, had a look around, ate a bit of grass, then strangely turned round and came back the same way, which was quite amusing. His easiest way of getting there was to climb over this high wall. It’s really unusual behaviour for an elephant to climb so high” Ian said.

Among this hullabaloo, a lodge owner and the managing director of The Bushcamp Company, Andy Hogg, managed to capture this funny scene. Enjoy!
