Jennifer Rutter lives in London, and loves watching wildlife through her window, and since February, she has been having a very special visitor. A little fox visits her garden and lounges on Rutter’s window ledge and sun bathes for a while. In an interview, the woman had this to say: “I see that fox nearly every day, and she’s a favorite on our street. The kids watch out for her from their bedroom windows.”
The vixen is so well mannered; hence, Jennifer doesn’t mind having this wild fox as her neighbor. The bold fox even brings Rutter small gifts, leaving them on her doorstep. Rutter went on to say this about the furry four legged vixen: “She seems really polite and gentle. [She steps] off the pavement to let people pass, and, apart from the debris she leaves in my garden, she’s very welcome! It’s brought me so many ‘presents.’ I’ve had a bag of moldy limes, lots of chicken drumsticks, a single sausage, a small toy car — bread seems to be a favorite.”
Up until then, nobody in the family had interacted with the fox. It is then that Rutter’s kitten Dodo wanted to make a new friend. When Dodo was with her mom in the home office, the fox visited them at the window. The brave little kitten took the opportunity and went up to the window to start playing with the fox. The fox watched patiently as the kitten pawed the window and meowed hello, went about her own business after a while.
The amused Rutter says: “Dodo was on my knee, and I pointed the fox out to her. She jumped up to the window and caught the fox’s attention, and then I started to film. I’ve never seen them interact before, and it was so moving to see them mirroring each other. I thought the fox seemed curious and playful — not a threat. It was like Dodo had interrupted her, and she was graciously giving the baby cat some attention.”
Mom and kitten eagerly wait for visits from the little bold fox, and are excited to see what little trinkets she would bring them next time.
