“Dwarf” Kitten has a Permanent Frown, but Everyone Who Meets her Loves her

The Carroll Country Humane Society in Tennessee recently received a litter of stray kittens, and the workers notice a little something different in the littlest one of the group. Luckily enough, they knew just who to call, and it turned out to be non-other than foster volunteer Michelle Roberts. Although the woman had fostered numerous special needs cats and kittens over the years, what she didn’t expect was her heart to be stolen by one.

In an interview, Roberts had this to say: “The lady over at the humane society sent me a picture and exclaimed that they have their first dwarf cat at the humane society. She asked if I would be interested in fostering since they didn’t really have room.” The woman agreed to foster the kittens without any hesitation, and the runt of the litter made a lasting impression on her.

Due to genetic abnormalities, the tiny kitten named Widget, was born with dwarfism, which had led to stunted growth and unusual body proportions. In her case, she also had a very pronounced frown, which made her look extremely grumpy. Roberts also went on to add: “It was very obvious that she was smaller than her siblings. She weighed less than the other cats and just really wasn’t growing. You could also tell that her legs were very short and ‘chonky’ and she certainly had that ‘Grumpy Cat’ look. I instantly fell in love.”

Although the tiny kitten’s siblings found their own forever homes but tiny Widget with her giant personality adamantly chose Roberts as her new parent. Roberts continued saying: “She has been sassy from day one. It’s like she knew all eyes were on her and she could do whatever she wanted, and could get away with it. She is still like that today.” Weighing over 7 pounds now, with her 3 other cat siblings and her doting mother, Widget is thriving in her new forever home. Roberts finally had this to say: “I knew I loved that grumpy face from day one, and I adopted her because I did not want someone else to adopt her and not take care of her. I love her no matter what.”
