While Emerica Hallock and her brother were driving down a remote stretch of highway in Alberta, Canada, they noticed something unusual.
Just off the roadside, in the brush, a bright, white figure stood alone. Although the woman thought it was just an odd rock at first, but she’d passed by too quickly to be sure.
Hallock’s brother, on the other hand, had gotten a better look, and had realized the incredible truth.
In an interview, Hallock explains, saying: “He told me to turn around. He claimed to have seen an albino porcupine. ‘Yeah, OK,’ I said. But because he was freaking out, I turned around.” But Hallock’s brother wasn’t hallucinating.
It was, indeed, an albino porcupine, a very rare sight. Only about one out of every 10,000 porcupines is said to have the condition.
Hallock couldn’t believe her eyes as she stepped out of the car for a better look.
She admits, “It was insane, I’d never seen an albino porcupine before, so seeing one was incredible.“
The porcupine, with his all-white fur and quills, appeared healthy and content as he moseyed through the brush, and it was almost as if he realized what a treasure he was.
Hallock exclaims: “He looked good!” and the woman also somehow managed to film the little guy going about his business.
Finally, the spiny albino returned to the surrounding forest, clearly content that his bold and brilliant appearance to passersby had been sufficiently appreciated.
And it most certainly had been, while Hallock finally adds: “It will definitely be something I remember.”
