Too Many Stray Dogs, Too Few Helping Hands
Across cities today, the streets are increasingly filled with abandoned dogs left to fend for themselves, having been betrayed by those they once trusted. Rather than stepping up to help, many people simply look the other way, leaving these helpless animals to their fate.
Thankfully, there are still kind-hearted individuals willing to go the extra mile—sometimes quite literally—to give these animals a chance at a better life. Such was the case in Los Angeles, California, when one man saw three abandoned puppies on the freeway in August and decided to take action.
Thanks to his compassion, and the support of his wife, these pups were rescued and given a fresh start.
A Rescue to Remember
On August 7, 2024, a woman named Viv shared the rescue story on TikTok, via her account @vivianaaae. The video begins with a shot of her husband driving, but it’s the message written on the screen that tells the story: three puppies had been found stranded on the freeway.
While the rescue itself wasn’t captured on film, the video soon shows Viv’s husband arriving home, parking in the garage with the three rescued dogs in the passenger seat. The dogs—each seemingly of different breeds, likely mixed—appear in varying states. Two are visibly scared, while the third seems more at ease, even cuddling with his rescuer.
The video quickly transitions to footage of the dogs in their new temporary home, playing happily in the couple’s Los Angeles backyard. The heartwarming clip concludes with the three new additions bonding with the couple’s Doberman, Canelo.
In the caption of the video, Viv expressed her disbelief at how anyone could abandon such sweet animals: “I’ll never understand how people can just dump these sweet little babies. They’re safe now and will forever be taken care of.”
A Happy Ending
Viv followed up the rescue story with an update the next day, showing the puppies adjusting well to their new surroundings. On August 21, she posted another significant update—one that would mark the start of a new chapter for the dogs. Alongside a photo of the trio, she shared that while she and her husband couldn’t keep all three, each one had found a loving forever home.
Thanks to the kindness of this couple, three helpless puppies went from being abandoned on a freeway to living safe and happy lives. In a world where many turn away, these two chose compassion—and in doing so, gave three deserving dogs their happiest ending.
