Hank was just 8 months old when a Good Samaritan noticed him in the woods. But he didn’t seem like a puppy at all. Instead of running around the forest like a normal pup the lonely dog was sitting perfectly still on a discarded dog bed.
He was surrounded by his old toys and a sealed bag of dog food that he couldn’t open without a help of a human. His face was expecting help sadly.
The Good Samaritan called their local animal shelter and they immediately dispatched staff members to rescue Hank. They thought that he might become aggressive during the rescue, but he was silent and patient.
“He was nothing but love from the moment they got him,” Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, said. “Everybody says that he’s the sweetest dog.”
After the rescue mission, Hank was taken to the vet. Then they found out that he had been suffering from a broken leg which is too painful. The doctors said that he had received the injury more than two weeks before being rescued. That is why he never moved into the woods.
His injury required surgery so the shelter reached out to Humans and Animals United for help.
They instantly agreed to take him into their care and give him the medical intervention he desperately needed.
Currently, he is at a local veterinary hospital and his life-changing surgery is going to be done soon. But before that, he needs to get a little bit of weight first. In the meantime, he is in love with the daily doses of love and cuddles he gets from the staff.
He is not yet available for adoption and Fond says that adoption requests have poured in ever since they posted about him on Facebook. But no one has been selected yet. Hopefully, he will get well soon and be ready for adoption. And the only thing we can be sure about is, he will never going to hurt again.
