Little Family Waits For Someone To Find Them Inside An Uninhabited House for Days

Donna Lochmann knew she had to go investigate the situation as soon as she received a call about a scared puppy in the basement of an abandoned home. She was ignorant of the fact that a small family was there and was in need of assistance.

According to Lochmann, chief lifesaving officer of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, “we could hear numerous babies wailing as soon as we stepped out of the car.”

After following the screams to the basement, Lochmann discovered three fearful pups, each around six weeks old, yelping for attention.

We would never want to abandon mum, Lochmann added. I returned a couple more times in the hopes that she would still be there.

Lochmann returned to the residence twice, but neither time was successful in locating the mom dog. Then, on her third visit, she overheard a recognizable bark coming from the house’s first floor.

A fourth little puppy was lying at Lochmann’s feet when she ascended the stairs from the basement to the first level after hearing a tiny whimper.

Lochmann remarked, “I couldn’t believe it. The day we were there, we looked everywhere for the original puppies, but we saw none anywhere.”

Up until she reached the landing at the top of the stairs, Lochmann wasn’t sure how the pups were getting into the basement. She discovered a sizable hole in the floorboards there where the pups appeared to be descending.

Four additional puppies were waiting for Lochmann on the first floor.

Along with the three puppies we discovered the first day, there were a total of eight puppies, according to Lochmann.

Before going back inside to look for the babies’ mother, Lochmann made sure all the puppies were secure in her Jeep. This time, she placed a trap within the residence and awaited Mom to investigate.

Later, when Lochmann went back inside to check on the mother dog, he discovered her safely trapped.

We rescued their mother that day, as well as a total of eight puppies, according to Lochmann.

In order to receive care, Lochmann took the mother dog, Windy Day, and her puppies to the shelter.

Following Lochmann’s placement of the first three puppies into foster care, the other five puppies quickly found foster homes. Windy Day, their mother, is still looking for a family to take her in and love her.

Lochmann remarked, “I’m hopeful someone will take her soon. She is so sweet.”

Windy Day was advertised on the website of Stray Rescue of St. Louis in an effort to place her in a devoted family. The loving mother dog is currently spending as much time as possible with the shelter workers, who are happy that she’ll never have to experience loneliness or fear again.
