Passenger shares shocking video from inside Delta plane moments after crash

A passenger aboard the Delta Air Lines flight that crashed and overturned while attempting to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport has shared video footage from inside the wreckage.

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM Eastern Time on February 17, when Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, which had departed from Minneapolis, Minnesota, flipped upside down during its landing attempt at Pearson.

Despite the aircraft carrying 80 people—76 passengers and four crew members—there were no fatalities. However, at least 18 individuals were transported to the hospital with injuries.

Deborah Flint, CEO of Toronto Pearson International Airport, expressed relief in a statement released last night: “We are very grateful there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries.”

Delta News Hub also addressed the situation on Twitter, stating: “Initial reports indicate there are no fatalities. Several customers with injuries have been transported to area hospitals. Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted.”

As investigators work to determine the cause of the crash, CNN obtained air traffic control audio capturing a conversation between a controller and the pilot of another nearby flight.

“LifeFlight 1, Medevac, just so you are aware, there are people outside walking around the aircraft,” the controller informed the Medevac pilot.

“Yeah, we’ve got it,” the pilot responded. “The aircraft is upside down and burning.”

Passengers from the flight have since turned to social media to share their experiences. One individual, Ashley Zook, posted a Snapchat video taken moments after evacuating the overturned aircraft.

“My plane crashed. I’m upside down,” she said in the footage before exclaiming,

According to the Independent, medical transport company Ornge reported that three individuals sustained critical injuries: a man in his 60s, a woman in her 40s, and a child. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.

This incident follows last month’s devastating aviation disaster near Reagan National Airport in Washington, which resulted in the deaths of 67 people. That tragedy, which occurred on January 29, involved a passenger jet colliding with a Black Hawk helicopter, making it the deadliest U.S. aviation accident since 2001.
