One sunny day, Brighid Rose went to visit her parents, she met a new tenant. It was a tiny mouse, who had come and started making himself at home. As the small visitor had been rummaging around their cabinets, they were hoping that Rose’s cat would assist in removing this unwanted visitor. Wanting to take a more gentle and humane approach, taking one step further than just moving and releasing him outside.
In an interview, she had this to say: “I scooped him up and brought him out to the field behind their house. I felt bad just leaving him there in the field, especially since he must have been used to eating all that human food in my parents’ cabinets. So I brought him a little goodbye picnic.” Just like a real picnic, the woman laid a napkin and put some pieces of food on it, and the little mouse loved it. The two spent some time together, and Brighid found a sheltered spot for the mouse, and to help him with his transition outside, she also left him a few snacks.
In her interview, she also said this about the little visitor: “It was really sweet, he let me sit next to him for over an hour. He seemed very happy to me. I have always just really loved animals. I didn’t really think too hard about it. Like, I should do this for him! It’s not his fault he’s a little mouse in a big world! It was so cute! Definitely made my day.”
